Planning Process

The Comprehensive Planning Process

The Comprehensive Planning Process is a community-wide effort that reevaluates what the City's vision and goals should be based on many factors including but not limited to population growth/decline, advances in technology, and socioeconomic outlook. This process should be completed about every 6 years to remain up to speed as community needs and desires change.

The process will begin with building a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) made up of City residents, employees, and business owners. Data will then be compiled to evaluate existing conditions and trends. A series of visioning workshops and public surveys will help the CAC to identify issues and opportunities within the community. Through the various workshops and public meetings, the community will be invited to engage in the process to gather a consensus establishing community goals, objectives, and implementation strategies that will go into the final document.

From the point that a final draft is ready to be adopted, the City of Carlisle Planning Commission will hold a public hearing for their review and recommendation. After, the final draft will be decided on by the City Council public hearing.
